Traditionally Siberian Huskies are a working dog bred mainly to pull sledges. Although still a working dog as such they are more recreational than a main form of transport. Lots of people in the U.K. meet up during the winter months and compete against each other at rallies, they run their huskies for fun, you could call it a hobby that takes over your life!
Unless you're a real dog lover they are not a easy breed to live with. They moult usually twice a year, lots of dog hair everywhere, they can be destructive if bored, howl the place down if they get lonely and make your garden look more like the surface of the moon.
Because they are hunters you should never let your husky off the lead and you require a securely fenced garden/dog area, one that they can't dig under, jump over or eat their way through!
For lots more information on Siberian Huskies and their origin check out the Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain's website and their links, also visit Sibespace.co.uk, especially as you can ask it's members questions via the forum.
